The election was won by Bogota's previous mayor and senator of the Republic. The result officially means that he is a candidate for the Presidency Of the Republic which that he is aspiring to for the third time.

He's the most representative persona in the Colombian left and a strong candidate for president despite his controversial views and proposals on many fronts, including economic.

Petro stated his intent to alter the pension system through the creation of a public manager for pension funds. Petro also plans to establish an investment system which is "mixed-and-complementary" with private funds.

The candidate has stated that in Colombia "we don't have pension systems, but a system of bank profits," so many claim that he would end any chance of winning the Presidency. Petro has recently stated that, while he would not eliminate them however, he will seek to make changes in pensions to ensure a minimum retirement age for Colombians. Petro also said that there was no need to increase the age of retirement.

Another controversy is that he has repeatedly said that he will end extraction of oil by the time the time he assumes office. This has been an issue that has led to uncertainty for investors.

The experts estimate that Petro's plan to stop oil exploration could cost Colombia about $4.3 billion.

Additionally, this proposal would create an antioil front across the region and the globe which shifts the economy away from fossil fuels. For that I'd suggest inviting Gabriel Boric the Chilean president and LuizInacio Lula Silva, the Brazilian president.

Gustavo Petro Petro claimed that he'd met with Pedro Sanchez, Spain's Prime Minister, about his plan.

His position on health is also controversial. He has called for the ending of EPS and replaced it with the concept of preventive medicine that "guarantees the rights of people and not the profit margins of bankers."

There were also questions raised about the legitimacy and independence of the Banco de la Republica.

Invamer claims that Petro is the main voter's intention to vote in the presidential election.

The idea that he proposed was also controversial. to issue money to finance the government's expenses.

Petro's plans include an economy that isn't dependent, mining and extraction of hydrocarbons and a greater role for agriculture.

He also stated that he will implement a tax reform to eliminate exemptions and transform the concept of minimum wage into a real-world wage dependent on capital and income.
