We hope you're not too attached to either of the Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions of one of the most popular building games on PC, as Microsoft and Mojang have confirmed that both will cease to exist on June 7 - and be replaced with the Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition and Bedrock Edition, meaning you don't have to play them separately.

You might be confused by the existence of two versions of Minecraft on PC that is the Java and Bedrock versions. PCGamesN has a useful guide to clarify the differences between the two, however, if you paid for one, you didn't get access to the other. This is kind of crazy.

Mojang and Microsoft are in agreement, as they've unveiled (thanks, Neowin) the Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition - a single-purchase version of Minecraft on PC that replaces the separate editions. This goes on sale on June 7 and will be "the only and standard edition of vanilla Minecraft on Windows PC."

Anyone with either the Java or Bedrock editions of Minecraft will be upgraded to the combined edition. This upgrade is automatic, but it can take up to three days for all eligible players to see the game. Fake root

Mojang confirms that "Java and Bedrock will remain distinct games with distinct features," with the only difference being that you don't have to purchase them separately, and can play both through the same Minecraft launcher. This is a great news for everyone, except for anyone who recently purchased both games separately. It will make downloading Minecraft much easier.
