We hope you're not too attached to either the Minecraft Java or Bedrock editions of one the most popular building games on PC. Microsoft and Mojang confirmed that they will be discontinued on the 7th of June.

Whether or not you're a fan of the phenomenal Sandbox game, you could be confused about the fact that there are two versions of Minecraft on PC that are the Java and Bedrock versions. PCGamesN offers a useful guide to clarify the differences between the two versions. If you have purchased one, you won't be able to get access to the other. Which is a little crazy.

Mojang and Microsoft are in complete agreement, as they have now announced (thanks to Neowin) the Minecraft Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. here we go again This single-purchase edition of Minecraft for PC replaces the separate editions. This will go on sale on June 7, and will be "the standard and sole offering of vanilla Minecraft for Windows PC."

Anyone who owns either the Java or Bedrock editions of Minecraft will be upgraded to the combined edition. This upgrade is automatic, although it may take up to three days for all eligible players to play the game.

Mojang confirms that otherwise "Java and Bedrock will remain separate games with distinct features," with the only difference is that you don't have to purchase them separately, and can access both from the same Minecraft launcher. This is great news for everyone, except for those who recently bought both separately. However, it will make the act of downloading Minecraft much simpler.
