Deepworld Launches A Kickstarter Project To Fund A Mac Beta

Deepworld is a 2D sandbox-style building platform similar to Minecraft. I met them at GDC in March and informed them it would be much more than they had anticipated. Although they have years of experience in developing servers and software running a massive game like Deepworld requires a significant investment. They seem to have reached an agreement. minecraft Kickstarter was established to raise funds early for development and servers.

The group is offering a variety of prizes to supporters which include your own personal servers and worlds, art books and other swag, as well as the possibility of winning your own items, your name or even images in the game itself. The goal is US$20,000, overall and at the time of writing, the team has collected around $4,000. They plan to make the project a full-time endeavor and this money will enable them to do so.

I definitely wish them well. Deepworld is stunning and I'm with you when I first saw it. I think the Mac (and iOS) would be greatly benefited by a game like that.
