In 2020, the developers announced a major change to Minecraft: Java Edition, since players will soon have to switch from a Mojang account to one with a Microsoft account in order to keep playing. This is a bit 'early' in relative terms, as we're not yet at the deadline but the developers have recently confirmed the date and put out the final announcement for account migration.



You won't have the ability to play Minecraft: Java Edition if you have an account with Mojang account.
